The narrator tells us that he first met Chihiro in the spring of his senior year of high school. She's the "bad girl" of the group, and he tells her to "swallow" and "slam" her friends. She doesn't seem to care, though, and the two of them get into a lot of fights. One day, she tells him to "just talk to me" and he agrees. He's laid off for two months, and she's been training to become a teacher.
