In this chapter, we learn that the two exorcists keep their identities a secret. One of them, Takeuchi, is a fellow student who lives with a cute girl named Inaba, and the other, Tamura, lives with an English girl named Tetahashi, who is a member of the school's English club. Takeuchi tells us that he and Tamura have been living together in the same apartment for three months now, and that he has noticed that the English girls stare at him and talk to him in a strange way. He says that since his parents' deaths, his world has been turned upside down, and he is anxious about everything. But since moving to Inaba's apartment, he's noticed that people are talking to him more and more, which he thinks is a sign that they're starting to change, too. Tamura tells him that he feels a "kinerol" on his head, which means that the girl's bleeding has stopped. He explains that this is because he "transferred the damage" from her body to a "stronger body" . This is a good thing, he says, because he was in such pain that he thought he was going to do something "brutal" but when he saw his friend's face, the pain melted away. He feels that the "joy of being alive" is different from the pain he felt at the time of the accident.
