The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night to find that he has missed breakfast. He's bummed because he's spent the last year traveling through Africa and the Middle East, and he doesn't have a single meal to eat. He finds some interesting books, though, and decides to check them out before he buys them. He thinks books are good for thinking and feelings, and that they're a good way to express your emotions.
