The next morning, the narrator returns to the apartment to find that Martin has returned from his trip to Australia. Martin is still wearing his expensive opal earrings, and the narrator comments that he looks like a "night mare" . Martin tells the narrator that his new training regimen has been rough, but that he is transforming day by day. The narrator is impressed by Martin's class, and he and Martin decide to return to Australia one more time
