The narrator tells us that Mishima collapsed at work the other day with intense stomach pain. She's never been to a hospital before, so she's not sure what's wrong with her. Mishima asks her friend, San, if he's okay, and he tells her that he'll try to get her some rest. She asks him to rub her back for pain, but he doesn't want to do that, because she feels like she might be sick. She tells him that she had a weird dream the night of New Year's Eve, in which her father grabbed her by the arm, and that she felt like a beast.
