About This Chapter
It's the end of the holiday season, and the narrator is bummed that he can't talk to his dad. He's also bummed because he's trying to figure out how to celebrate the new year with his family. He decides to go back to his favorite food: steamed crab meat, with special ginger-soy vinegar. The narrator is so excited about the food that he eats it all day, even though it's only a small portion of what he'll eat in the rest of the day. He also runs into a girl named Akine, who tells him that she's going to treasure the picture of chiaki in her training sphere. The girls are having a good time, though, since they're all sleeping through the night. The weather's getting ugly, and they've had to stay up all night drinking. They've also had to sleep through the first sunrise of the year, which means they haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time. They all have to get up and get ready for work, which is a lot of work for a guy like the narrator.
