In this chapter, the narrator continues his story of how he came to live in the apartment where he works. He tells us that he's been living in this apartment for about a year now, and that it's made it easier for him to communicate with people he doesn't know. He's noticed that his house has strange noises coming from the back of his apartment building. One time, he was delivering a package and heard a loud noise behind him, but when he turned around, nothing was there. He realizes that he has to be extra careful on the road.
