In this chapter, we learn that Ube is in a "temporary slump" and that he needs to "clear up" her "misunder standing" before the next swim meet. He asks the other swimmers to give him their pictures, but they refuse, saying that they want to "get their hands on" okas photo anyway. Ube, however, has a special request for them all: he wants to kiss each one of them, and he wants them to open their eyes one last time before he kisses each one. He tells them that his heart is beating faster, and that his "heart slip is racing" . He wants to make sure that they don't see him swimming below his "full strength" , so that he can kiss Ube's picture. He then asks them if they saw him swim, and they all agree that they did. He thanks them for coming from fourth place, and says that he knew he had to choose them as his partner.
