In this chapter, we get a brief description of what it's like to be in love with someone. It's summer in Japan, and everyone's in a good mood. One day, Hiroyuki and Tsubaki run into each other at a department store. Tsutaki is shopping, and Hiroyuki is buying clothes, so he's convinced that it must be Hiroyuki. He's also convinced that Tsuetaki is Hiroyuki's best friend, and he wants to buy him some ice cream. He wants to give him a present, but he doesn't want to give it to a girl who's only been in grade school for a few years. He tells her that she's got boobs that are "fully grown" , and that he thinks this is a "bad idea" . He also tells her about his friend, Leno, whom he thinks is her "best friend" because he trusts her. Hiroyuki tells him that Leno calls him "ayu" by his "first name," which means "I'm your friend," but he can't figure out why Leno would call him that way. He goes on to say that he ran into Hiroyuki in the park the other day, and after that, he got quiet and didn't notice his face flushed. He asks if he can go buy some drinks with him, and they decide to go for a walk together.
