The chapter opens with a description of the scene in which Ursula and Alek meet up at the train station. Alek tells Ursula that he took the train ticket from her because he wanted to see a movie. He tells her that since he has a girlfriend, he cannot go see the movie with her. He asks her if she gave him the ticket because she was interested in him. She replies that she gave it because she wanted to meet Alek. Alek says that he cannot accept this because he has unique traits, like the way his eyes are slanted. He then asks her why she has been missing school. She says that she forgot to ask why she was missing. Alek and Ursula go for a walk together.
