This chapter takes place in December, comic-time. The narrator tells us that his wife is a student named Wagatsuma, and that her fiance, a guy named Aoshima, keeps asking him out for a walk. He says that his grades aren't good enough to get married, and he's worried that he won't be able to get a good grade on the next round of exams. He's also worried about losing his wife, who is always in the top five in every subject. He doesn't know how to beat her, he says, because she's so smart. He asks if his class rank is good enough, and the narrator says that it isn't, but that his own grades are pretty good. He also says that he'd like to try harder in the next life, but he'll have to think of a way to get his grades up. He wonders if there's a way for him to go out with a girl named Waga Tsuma, who's studying with him.
