In this chapter, the narrator reflects on the fact that he has lost his ability to slip in and out of situations. He realizes that he is going to spend the rest of his life "cocooning" with "wagatsuma" . He wonders what the lady in question is planning to do with her argument with his wife. The narrator wonders if the woman in question has a history drama that she would like to see dramatized on the big screen. He also wonders if he would cheat on her if he knew about it. He thinks that he would not be able to do so, since she would suspect him of cheating on her. He then wonders if "squats" are the best way to "restore normal male function." He wonders if aoshima has slept with thousands of women and that the volume of his fluid would fill the Tokyo Dome five times. He concludes that no real conclusion has been reached.
