The scene opens with a flashback to a conversation between the Governess and her son. The Governess tells the boy that she has found out that he is a member of the "dx corps," an anti-life army, and that the group is disbanding because of his disloyalty. The boy, however, refuses to reveal the identity of the leader of the group, and the two men part ways.
