This chapter opens with a conversation between a young man and his wife about the upcoming Shimokitacho festival. The young man is worried that the festival will not go as planned. He is worried about the lack of participation of the two main bands. The first band, the "dx band" , has been turned down by the festival director because of its looks. The second band, "toy band," has also been turned away because of their looks. They are worried that they will not be able to play their part in the festival.
