When the Governess arrives, she finds that his son has gone to see his father. He tells her that he has come to tell him the truth, because the King is angry with him. The Governess tells him to kneel down and kiss her good-bye. He kneels down and kisses her. She asks him what he is here for. He says that he wants to live overseas and never come home again. She tells him that she is tired of the power struggles between her father and the King. He asks her what she is there for. She says that she wants to be with the King forever. She wants him to give up all of his possessions and leave her alone. She wonders if he will still love her when she is no longer beautiful and young. She also asks him if she is a felony. He answers that she may punish him however she wishes.
