This scene opens with the Emperor of the Yuqi kingdom, Yuqi, speaking with his servant, the Empress, in front of the palace. The Emperor tells Yuqi that he has ordered the expulsion of the princess from the city of Mount Yunding. The Empress is shocked at the order, but the Emperor assures her that he will protect her. The two exchange pleasantries, and Yuqi tells the Emperor that he is still in control of the city. He tells the Empress that the war has been won because of Yuqi's interference, and that the Emperor will not lose with the princess.
