This chapter opens with a conversation between Asuka and Mutsu. Asuka asks Mutsu if he remembers the notebook they found in their luggage. Mutsu says that he remembers seeing a book with a bunch of pages in it, and that he thinks it would be a good idea for him to keep a diary of his time on the island. He also asks if he can use some of the pages for personal things. As he starts to write, he realizes that it's going to be a month since they've arrived. He decides to start a diary. He sets up two filters: one at their camp and one in the water hole. They wash their clothes and brush their teeth with willow branches. They also find some sea glass, which they make into bracelets for everyone. They talk about how they're going to have to eat in shade now that they have a roof over their heads. They've also found tufts of willow branches that they'll use to make tufts of hair for their teeth. They find a lot of sea glass today. They make bracelets out of it. They even make a bracelet out of seaweed, which makes them feel like they are wearing something special. They start to talk about the fact that they might forget about their time in the jungle. They joke about how the sea waves wash away all of their stuff, and they wonder if they might have some food to eat. They decide to have some free time after noon, so they can watch some of their favorite shows. They tease each other about how much fun they have watching the shows. When Asuka falls asleep, she looks like she's been tuckered out.
