The next morning, Asuka and Mutsu prepare the morning's breakfast. Asuka says that they've run out of acorn flour and yeast, so they're going to use the bones from the boar to make stock. Mutsu says that he's going to take the bones to Asuka's house, where he'll use them as flour and starch for a dinner and then use them for noodles. He's not sure if they'll make noodles, but he wants to make sure they have water to drink. The two men discuss what's happened to the bow and arrow that they fired earlier in the day, and Asuka points out that the bow's string has wanged him on the breast. He doesn't know if it's an injury from the bow, or if it was just a twitch in his eye. He wonders if Asuka is in love with him, but Mutsu insists that he isn't. They're ready to eat the boar-bone-and-dumpling soup that they made earlier.
