When Asuka and her husband, Homare, enter the garden, they are greeted by the wild radish that they have planted. The seeds sprout and the beans taste like pistachios. Asuka asks Homare why he has fetched the water, and he replies that he has been getting it closer and closer to the source of the river. He says that fetching water from the upstream source is an "ironclad rule" of survival, and that the farther downstream you go, the greater the problems you are in. Homare says that he is worried about Asuka, but he does not think that she is doing it in an attempt to ally herself with him. He feels that she simply is not thinking at all
