The next morning, Hiroshi and Asuka prepare to leave for the mainland. Hiroshi wonders if they'll be able to survive on the island while they're on the boat. Asuka and Hiroshi discuss the insects that they've found under the sand. They're small enough to eat, but not poisonous enough to kill them. The insects are larvae of a family of creepy crawlies, which are supposed to live in cone-shaped dwellings and devour the prey that falls inside. They can't eat until they grow up to be adults, which is when they need more food.
