This is a locked chapterChapter 51: The Loner's Side
About This Chapter
In this short scene, the narrator laments his inability to communicate with his father. He has burned through all of his savings in the past few months, and he has begun a new job. He wishes he could go to a show at one of the local theaters, but the clothes he has ordered from the internet do not fit in his new clothes. The narrator asks his father if he can ask him anything, and his father replies that he can. He tells the narrator that it is easier for the humans to hide in nature than it is for them to do so, because in the summer, they are afraid of being bitten by a snake. He says that he is not going back to the mamushi, as they are "pretty tasty" but that he will try them one more time
