In this chapter, we are introduced to the island's two young men, Shmoop and Mutsu, who have been foraging for food on the island. Mutsu has been dreaming of eating meat like a pig, which he has seen in comic books and movies. He is overjoyed to find that he can eat so much meat in such a short period of time, and he is also pleased to see that he is not being carried away with the meat, which is a waste of food. He also remarks on the fact that the meat looks like pork, a fact which amuses him, as it shows that the island is full of meat. The two men eat the meat and eat up the remaining portion of the meal, which they plan to use to build a frame to hang their hammocks.
