About This Chapter
The scene opens with a conversation between a young man and a young woman. The young man tells the woman that he's going to take an exam to get a job in the town. He doesn't want to leave, he says, because he'll be free to do whatever he wants. The woman asks him if there are any "candi dates" in town, and the young man replies that there are. He also asks if the girl with the pig tails has any "tics," and the woman responds that she does. He asks her if she's trying to think about "good and evil," and she replies that she is trying to "work in self" . She then asks if he'd like her to help him with his pillow, and he agrees. He tells her to "plop a little bit all right take this" , and she agrees. She wonders why the director would want to be a day late to work. He's already "drained," she says, and it's not like he needs to stay up all day. He just needs to be "a day it to a lantern," she wonders. He agrees, but she wonders if he wants to make everyone happy, too. She asks him to give her a "vacast prize," and he says he would like to give it to her.
