About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Enjin has been away from home for a long time, and that she has not been able to return to her family because of her busy schedule at school. Enjin tells us that her family has been a part of the town since before she was born, and they have played a key role in protecting the town from the evildoers. She says that they want her to grow up to be like them, but that she is not like them at all. They are old, she says, and "that really isnt like you" . They all want to be grown up, but Enjin says that she will leave it to her to do so. She also says that the three of them are the ancestors of all of the people who live in the town. She tells them to rattle the sign that says "chinese soba" , which means "fried rice." Enjin wonders why they are studying on myodo, and she says that if they want to know, they should rattle the tap that taps on the ground. She wonders if they are going to join the office, but they will be all alone. She asks about him, and he says that he is doing well at school, but he still has a long way to go. He says that sometimes he wishes that time would just stop so that he could practice his exorcisms.
