The chapter opens with a group of young men cleaning up Shu-ri's room. They're all grateful for the work they've done so far, and they all agree that it's a shame that they haven't been able to clean up the place more. They hug each other and thank each other for their hard work. One of them asks to borrow some vegetables from zakuro, but he's too young and doesn't have the money to buy them. He also asks for a jar of liquid seaweed that chan can use to stir up. chan says he'd like to try it on, but chan isn't sure if he'll like it. They agree that they're better off without the siblings, since they'll be able to focus on their own needs. . They talk about how cool it is to be outside, and chan asks why they didn't just carry a pot of water for him. He's not sure if it was the heat or the breeze that made him want to go outside. He says it must have been the heat that fried his brain. He asks chan if he could just carry the pot to his room, and he says he would be happy to do so. He tells chan that he can't think of anything else to do, so he asks him to put out heads for him to think about when he thinks about something. He then says he wants chan to think of something else, like a "stray demon" or a "dragon pulse energy" . He adds that he wants to know what's going on in the kitchen, so chan tells him that there are two major compounds in the food that make up the food's umami. The first is inosinate, and the second is glutamate, which makes the food taste like beef. The second is guanosine, and it makes it taste like chicken. The group decides to cook up a dinner for chan, who's been cooped up in his room for so long.
