The chapter opens with a long speech by Enobaruchi, in which he praises the work of the group. He tells them that they have succeeded in their mission and that they are now ready to face the future. He says that the future will be very different from the present because of the fact that no one will be able to go to the future with a "suited future" . He also says that his sons will be angry at the thought that they will not have the future they want. He then goes on to say that he has one of the handful of old men who can enter the future and that he swears that he is going to get one of them to wake them up tomorrow. He adds that the coffins are full and that it will take three years for them to be placed inside. He asks if they want to not accept a "accept match" and says that they do not want to be a "accepted match" , so they will have to wait three years. The narrator then says that he will become a "devil if need be" if someone tries to advance the cause of the fusion. He explains that the only way to make it fair is to "tune" into the future, which means that they must work hard and exhaust all of their efforts.
