About This Chapter
The next morning, the gang heads out to the garden to pick up some fresh vegetables. As they do so, they run into the narrator, who asks the gang what they're going to do with the vegetables they just picked. The narrator says he wants to make sure his sister eats a "balanced diet" , which sounds like a lot of work, but he's not sure how to go about it. He asks if there's anything he can do with some of the shoots he just picked from the garden, and the gang says they'll try to make some "miso udon stew" . Sounds like a good idea, but the narrator doesn't really know what to make with the scallions he picked . He's also confused by the whole "bamboo shoots" thing going on around the garden. He wants to chop them up and make something with them, but can't figure out how to do it.
