About This Chapter
The narrator and his companions discuss the sand dunes, which they believe to be the same place where they would find the "Tottori Sand Dune" . They also discuss the town of Toshigano, where they have been living for the past few weeks. The narrator asks the companions if they have seen the mayor, and they reply that they have not. He then asks about the food they ate while they were at the inn, and the narrator replies that he ate 3009 egg whites, 12 of which he would like to eat some day. He also asks if it is possible for demons to adapt easily to society, as they have had to go into the snow to get away from the wind. He tells the companions that they should not worry about the scent of the sand, as he knows they are there. They eat a German baked good, and he comments that it looks just like the rings on the cake.
