Back on the ship, the captain explains that Sibir has been executed for his treason against Orakken. Sibir owes money to the ship's owner, and the owner has refused to pay. The captain tells Sibir that he has been given his own room and that he will be treated like one of the crew. He explains that the moneylenders cannot do business with people who think they are "soft." Sibir is upset that the captain wants to use his ether power against him, but the captain says that his power is not fast enough to do so. He asks the captain to extract the power from the cat-leaper, which is the name of his ether gear, and says that it would be bad for them if the power did not awaken. The Captain says that they are picking up a "high concentration ether reading" from Sibir, and that she is using the cat leaper to escape.
