About This Chapter
Edens is a guest room on the aqua wing of the ship. He asks if he could pilot the ship since he's there. He also asks if there's anything else he could do to make the ship more interesting. He says he'd like to learn more about the ether gear on the ship so he can make it lighter and more powerful. He explains that ether is the power source of all things, including humans. It flows through humans, the air, and even though it's unscientific, people call it "magic" . It's also called "gear" because it forces the ether inside the body to change into something else. He wonders if Professor Weisz is home. He's underground, he says, and he wonders if something's happened to him. He doesn't know where he is, but he thinks he hears the sound of someone's voice, which he assumes is the professor. Then he realizes that the professor and his wife are really old, and that they've been underground for 20,000 years.
