Back on the ship, the ship's captain tells the crew that he has found the crash site of the swan, which was destroyed in the attack by the crow. The captain asks the other crew members what they are doing there, and they tell him that they are looking for the source of the crow's energy. He then asks the captain to tell him what the purpose of the universe is, and the captain replies that the universe needs evil to keep it from getting too dark. He says that he erased evil from the universe so that it would be easier for the light to shine through. He tells the captain that he always knew that he would be able to defeat the crow someday, but that day was not today. He asks the crew members if they were behind the attack on the swan 13 years ago. They all agree that it was a bloody day, when the crow killed over a million people. They also agree that the day was a day of darkness, when evil was born. They agree that good people must also create evil, but good people do not. They say that without evil, there would be no reason for existence.
