In this chapter, we learn that Cyrano and his son, Elsie, live on a planet called "the temple" . Cyrano tells us that he doesn't care what happens to Elsie and Cyrano, since they're just "weird" creatures. He's not worried about Cyrano's son, though, since he's sure that Shura will take his place once Cyrano dies. The only problem, Cyrano says, is that there are so many other fish in the ocean that he can't deal with them all on his own. He also points out that there's no way Cyrano can handle them all, since there are too many "big fish" in the universe. He wonders who the heck is Ziggy, and wonders why he would come after Cyrano when he already has a deadbeat son. He asks his father if he should take Ziggy to war, since Cyrano is ashamed of his son's behavior. The old man says that he'd rather die than let his son die like that. He tells Cyrano to "clack the dice" , which means to "run down the machine." Cyrano replies that it's his "sacred guiding dice" that have given him the power to build this empire in such a short period of time. He wants to know what's happened to Ziggy.
