The voice of the guardian, who has been guarding the mother beacon for 200 years, is now interrupted by the love of his life. He tells her that he is an old model, and that he cannot function without the cord that keeps him from entering the temple. He warns her that if she feels her life is in danger, she should return to the cave. He says that the fire is following him and that there is no way for him to get through the temple without the use of an arsenal. He adds that the only way he can get through is by using the same thermo-stability functions that he uses to protect himself. The voice says that he will never forget the bright blue planet that he calls home.
