Okay, now we're back at the beginning of the story. It's hot outside, and the narrator is having sex with his childhood friend, who's also hot outside. The two of them are having sex in the hot sun, but the narrator doesn't seem to mind. He's just trying to get his friend to have sex with him, and he's having a lot of fun at the same time. The narrator and his friend get into a little scuffle about whether or not they should have sex while they're hot and steamy, and then the two guys head off to find a hot tub. They run into iida, who tells the narrator that she's been looking for a job outside the prefecture, and iida tells him that her friend, rei, is going to go abroad to study. They're both bummed out that they'll be alone for a while, but iida wants to know if rei will be popular abroad, since everyone seems to be getting a boyfriend while they study abroad. She asks the narrator to rub rei the wrong way, so she can cheer up her friend. He agrees, and they head off together.
