About This Chapter
The narrator complains to himself that he's been having sex with his "sweaty childhood friend" , whom he calls "rei" . He's embarrassed that he didn't tell his girlfriend sooner. He thinks that rei seems like a "stubborn well" and that if they're having sex, it's best that they don't get too close to each other. He also thinks that if a guy flirts with rei, he'll have no choice but to give him a pass. The narrator then asks kawamura what his next lecture is going to be . . he says his textbook must be "heavy." . the narrator asks rei if he'd like to go for a walk or grab some coffee. He says he doesn't need coffee, but that he can't go anywhere else if he does. He wants to go to a karaoke bar, but rei won't let him go. He asks if they should just grab coffee and go to another part of town to have a drink. The two of them argue about whether or not they should go to the bar, and rei finally gives in and says they should grab coffee. They argue again and again and finally suck it up, and the narrator finally gives up and goes to sleep.
