"Hot Day with a Broken Air Conditioner" is the title of this chapter. It's a reference to the fact that the narrator is having sex with his childhood friend, who is also a hot-blooded Japanese man. The two of them are having sex in the hot sun, and they're both freaking out. They're all freaking out because they think the other's going to be suspicious if they keep having sex together. The narrator and his friend try to get the other to stop, but they can't. Finally, they have to smack each other in the middle of the room to make each other stop.
