About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the flame-making technique has been used to create synthetic flames, which are much stronger than the original flames. This is because the original flame was made from the body of a human being, not from a beast. This means that the human body is much weaker than the beast, and therefore, it is necessary to create a synthetic form of the body to compensate for the loss of the original form. The second elder, the third elder, and the fourth elder are all in on the action, and they are all yelling at the beast to do something. The third elder says, "swish self-immolation" , the second elder screams, "how dare you do this?" , and so on. The fourth elder says that he has just been thinking about how he can get his hands on this technique, and he is sure that the beast will willingly give up the form. He says that if the beast does not do something, then he will punish the beast for it.
