Everyone who has passed the age of adulthood is eligible to pick a skill from the Dou-Qi pavilion. The skill is divided into two classes: parent and child. The parent class is made up of the clan elders and the child class is comprised of the child. Everyone is supposed to be in the same class, so it is forbidden for anyone to bring the skills outside of their clan. The first skill is to refine flame, the second is to crack a light barrier, and the third is to use yin animation. The father tells the child that the light barrier is very strong, so they can try combining their powers to break it, but that will not work. The child says that he can make a potion to sell to the father to sell off.
