The ice snake and the elder ice snake make a big deal out of the fact that they're offering their blood to the god of the river. The elder ice snakes are all, "Gee, that sounds like a good idea, right?" They're not kidding. The ice snakes can't believe they've made enemies of the clan in the river valley. They need a friend to lead them back to the land of their ancestors. They'll need someone familiar with the area to do the job. Senior ice snake isn't buying it. He says he's been dead a long time, and he and his brothers are outsiders. He asks where they'll find a place to lay their heads. He's got a message for them: they have three days to surrender to the sun-flame altar or else the coffins will become their new resting place
