The chapter opens with a description of the Black Seal auction, which takes place once every year. It is the place where stolen goods are traded. The narrator tells us that the price of many of the items in the auction is very high, and that the person selling them is a "crazy beggar" . He tells the narrator that he needs money to fuel his ambition, and he tells him to go to the auction to buy medical ingredients. He also tells him that he can buy the ingredients at the auction for a very high price, and then he can go to his master's academy and buy the medical ingredients at a much higher price. He says that he cannot buy good medical ingredients that can be successfully created with only a few ingredients, because he can't sell them at a price that is too high. He explains that he oversleeps, and his master feels sorry for him because he hasn't slept well for three days. He then says that if he doesn't have business around here, he shouldn't stand in the way of the auction house. He points out that there is an extremely precious elixir that is to be auctioned, and asks the narrator why he has come to this auction house, since if he didn't, the important guest would have been offended by him. He asks her to arrange a room for him, and she says that she really manages the auction place. She also says that the man who buys the highest price wins the auction.
