In this chapter, the "black shadow" of Zhangwuye is introduced. He is described as a "terrifying shadow" who once stole "a whole roasted lamb" from the village. Some say he looks "more like a human" and that he is extremely prideful. The "black dragon" tells the "brat" to take him to the "western empress scriptures" and to give him the black turtle. After passing through 30 miles, the sky has turned dark and they have not yet found the gates. They are looking for the "ancient scriptures" but have not found them yet. They have been busied all night and have found nothing. They think they can enter the well. They call the place "the ancient well" and "eating the suns essence" . They should go and clear the path for them. The place is 6,500 feet below the surface and they can even dig it out. They climb higher and higher until they reach the "sacred lake" , which they call "the miraculous lake". They have fun together.
