This chapter opens with a description of the golden phoenix-blood, the blood moon, and the divine cave. It's clear that this is a reference to the ancient temple of Hengyu, the great emperor of the Ming dynasty, who lived in the east during the time of the Golden Day. He was a great warrior, and he refined his weapons in the sun-fall ridge, a sacred place in the middle of the jungle. The narrator tells us that there's no "divine phoenix" in this world, and that the only place where he could refine his weapons would be at the ridge. He says that the ridge would have been the first place he'd go if he wanted to create an "extreme weapon" .
