The steward tells the owner to close the establishment and leave the town. The young man tells his grandfather and father-in-law that he has been forced to leave his hometown because of a terrible earthquake. The old man tells the young man that he and his grandfather have been bullied all day by the other villagers. He asks the innkeeper if he can stay for a few days. The innkeeper agrees to take him in.
