In the seventh courtyard, Fan and his companions run into the three legendary source miners. The three of them have come to place a bet on which of the three will find the most "sources" of the mill. The source miners are worried that they will lose the bet, but they are confident that they have the guts to do so. They ask the source miners to show them their "source" first, and if they lose, they should admit defeat. The first stone they find is "white in red" , and the second stone is "red-brown and white" . They are sure that the first stone is empty, but the second one is filled with a source, and they are amazed that the source is so large. They wonder how they can find such a large stone, and why they should not come with them to play the game with them
