About This Chapter
The old man asks the old man if he wants to exchange his golden phoenix blood for the ancient scriptures of the fourth realm. Old Man says he doesn't want to impose his will on anyone, but he does want to give him a scroll of ancient scriptures. The scroll is not the scriptures itself, but merely a fragment of the scriptures. He tells Old Man that he has observed that Old Man's inner essence is "full of splendor." Old Man asks if he has anything he would like to exchange for, or if he is planning to steal it from him, and Old Man replies that he is only a dying old man and that he does not know what he wants. He says that if he can exchange for the scriptures, it would be amazing, but that the scriptures cannot be passed down from one generation to the next. He also says that among the five people in the jade pool, the fluctuation saint is "the most trustworthy." He adds that the light of Old Man makes him uneasy, and that makes him feel uneasy. The two of them decide to go their own ways, Old Man saying he will go by himself, while the jade saint will go with him.
