The sea of suffering grows larger and larger. The jade snake orchid grows stronger and more powerful than the herbs that they've collected so far. The narrator wonders if they should go deeper into the ruins to harvest more herbs. He wonders if the sound of the beasts' retreat from the outer edge of the ruins is a sign that the depths are undergoing some kind of change. He also wonders whether the snake will stay there forever.
