After half a month of cultivation, the young man returns to find a group of villagers gathered outside of his cave. They are demanding that he give them five pounds of gold, which he refuses to do. The village is in danger if he cannot find the five pounds. The young man tells the villagers that the local bandits threaten to kill the villagers and capture the women if they do not come to their aid. The villagers agree to help him find the source of gold.
