Teta and Teta's little brother, Little Teta, are having a wonderful time. Teta tells Teta that he ate a bad piece of food, but Teta assures him that the food tastes just like his mom made it. He also says that his mom is gone, too, and that he has to cheer up his brother, who will miss his mom as much as he does. He says that he can't bear to think of his mom, but he's glad that he was separated from his family, so he'll be happy to be reunited with them. He tells his brother that they're both pitiful children, but that since they've been together, Teta has become more cheerful, too. He's also happy to hear that the li family is gathering some strong men to guard themselves against an enemy. The two families have never gotten along very well, and the enemy lives ten miles from them. The li family sent a new steward to ask about the news, but the new steward was captured. The rest of the men were beaten to death, but they ran back to try to save the steward's life
