The Underground Man tells the Underground Man that he'll take him to the future. He's surprised to learn that there's so much underground space, and that the water is so cold that he can walk on his own. He also tells him that he doesn't have to worry about the cold, because he's got his hands and feet. He says he can't wait to get back to his normal life, because the water's just so cold. He tells the man to put him down, because his back will hurt if he tries to go back up again. The underground man says that the sword's in the way, and he won't let go. The sword is shiny, and it's connected to some kind of super-power. He wants to look at it from another dimension, and the sword isn't going to let him back down. It's from the future, he says, and his purpose is to tease a cat.
