The Time Traveller tells the soldiers that they are too weak to fight. He tells them that the time machine is in disrepair and that he will hold the true ancestor back. He says that if the situation becomes irreversible, he must leave the space in front of him immediately. He promises that if he finds the machine, he will come back to save them. He asks the soldiers to shoot the fuel tank if he is really dead.
